Abstract (EN)

This study discusses how suicidal discourses were reconstructed in Turkish cinema between 1980-2015 period. In the first chapter of the study, it has been tried to explain how the phenomenon of suicide is interpreted in the fields of sociology, psychology, philosophy and religion in the historical process, by discussing it in a theoretical and conceptual framework. However, in the first chapter, social traumas experienced in Turkey, theoretical and conceptual studies in the field of suicide in Turkey and lastly suicide statistics in Turkey covering the period 1980-2015 are mentioned. In the second chapter, it has been examined how the suicide discourses produced by the dominant ideology are reconstructed in newspaper texts and literary texts. While examining newspaper texts, socio-psychological approach and Teun van Dijk's critical discourse analysis method were used. Literary texts, on the other hand, were examined in the perspective of hermeneutic method and thematic approach and socio-psychological approach. In line with the theoretical information and findings obtained from the first two chapters, the films sampled in the third section were analyzed within the framework of socio-psychological approach and hermeneutic method.
