Abstract (EN)
Objective: Currently, there has been increase in the non invasive diagnostic methods. It is essential that patient should be stand still during shooting magnetic resonans spectrosopi which is one of the non invasive dignostic methods to obtain accurate imaging results. But, in some psychiatric disorders and in children, it is required general anesthesia to provide patients stand still. Therefore; propofol, thiopental, midazolam, and ketamine which are the intravenous anesthetic agents are preferred either alone or in combination. As all general anesthetic agents, intravenous anesthetic agents effect the metabolism of the brain in various degrees. We aimed to determine a general anesthetic agent which provides patients to stand still for ideal shooting magnetic resonans spectrosopi and at the same time it should effect the metabolism of brain minimally or nothing. Material and Method: In this study, twenty-eight Wistar Albino male rats were used after experimental protocols were approved by the Inönü University Animal subject Committees. These animals were randomly divided into four groups (each groups were including seven animals) for determine the metabolic changing in brain during shooting Magnetic Resonans Spectrosopi. Groups that group M (Midazolam 50 mg/kg-1, n=7), group K (Ketamine 40 mg/kg-1, n=7), group T (Thiopental sodium 40 mg/kg-1, n=7), group P (propofol 26 mg/kg-1, n=7) and group S; Isotonic and %1 isoflurane mask anesthesia were determined. Anesthetic agent and isotonic were applied intraperitoneally in the volume of 3,5 mL. Results: There was no statistical differences between groups in terms of brain metabolites (levels of N-acetyl aspartate, choline and keratin) which were measured by magnetic resonans spectrosopi. It has been displayed no differences in the ratio of choline / keratin, of N-acetyl aspartate / choline, and of choline / N-acetyl aspartate between rats in the each group. Conclusion: We consluded that single dose of midazolam, ketamine, or thiopental does not affect the results of the magnetic resonans spectrosopi.
