Azerbaijan-Israel relations on the axis of Iran

Abstract (EN)

This study anayzes theoretical framework of the realtions between Azerbaijan and Israel after gaining the independence with the disintegration of the Soviet Union and the effect of Iran's policies on the formation of these relations. The complex geographical structure of Azerbaijan has also been reflected in Azerbaijan's foreign policy since independence. Iran as neighbour country that has an emperialist history of with its expansionist policy towards Azerbaijan, the perception of the Azerbaijan as a threat after Cold War, the pragmatic policies of Iran over the Southern Caucasus-Naghorno Karabakh and Armenian Politics-Azerbaijan has obliged to develope strategies aiming to balance the Iran, and in this case the situation has enabled Azerbaijan-Israel relations come forward. Existing relations between Azerbaijan and Israel is versatile. Jewish citizens of Azerbaycaijan who have deep roots had a positive impact in the formation of relations between two countries. Co-existing economic, political and commercial relations have vital importance for both countries.
