The crime of extortion

In this study, the crime of extortion regulated in Article 250 of the Turkish Penal Code has been examined under four main headings. After making general explanations about the crime of extortion under the first chapter, the important concepts that need to be known to better understand the crime of extortion are examined and then the legal value that is desired to be protected by the creation of the crime in question is explained. Under the second chapter, the crime of extortion is discussed within the scope of the general crime theory. Under the third chapter, the special aspects of the crime are discussed, and under the fourth title, procedural provisions are included. While examining the crime of extortion regulated in Article 250 of the Turkish Penal Code, comparisons were made by including the regulations in the period of Law No. 765. In order to better understand the crime of extortion, evaluations were made by taking into account the similar and different characteristics of crimes with a similar nature to the crime of extortion. the crime of extortion has been evaluated within the scope of the general crime theory within the scope of our study and examined within the scope of the elements of the crime. Considering the legislation on procedural law regarding the crime of extortion, investigation and prosecution procedures are handled within the scope of these law articles. In summary, the crime of extortion is regulated under Law No. 5237; the amendments made in the article of the law have been written by taking into account the differences and similarities between the abolished law no.765.m Keywords: The Crime of Extortion, Turkish Penal Code, Public Official
