Concept of business ethics and business ethics approaches in Giresun and Trabzon

The term ethics dating back to old times is still noteworthy and contemporary. In recent years, that term which is getting more popular in terms of individuals and organizations has become an increasingly important subject for especially social sciences. Ethics is a concept that holds individuals and societies together and also contains the norms and values enabling us to live in peace within itself. No matter how different people's opinios, beliefs and rules are in society, the binding and guiding role of ethical principles is an undeniable reality. Business ethics, a sub – branch of ethics, forms the basis of right and wrong behaviours in the business life. Business ethics is reflection of the generally accepted rules in society to the rules in business life. Ethical principles and practices adopted in business life are a balancing factor for the differences between individuals and groups, nonetheless it has an effect that enhances the quality of work life and productivity. Increasing competition, unfavourable conditions and unethical behaviours in business life have increased the interest in the concept more and more. It will be possible for businesses to be sustainable and successful today and in the future by means of the ethical principles. This research aimed at measuring manager's attitudes and perceptions about ethics and business ethics. The research was carried out on a sample of 100 people consisting of private sector enterprises in the provinces of Giresun and Trabzon. As a method of data collection in the research, the questionnaire technique was applied by an individual interwiew method. Participants were asked questions, including open – ended quesitions. The collected data related to the closed – ended questions were analyzed with the SPSS 22.0 package program. As a result of the analysis and evaluation, it was determined that the work ethics attitudes and perceptions of the employees did not differ according to the city where the enterprises were located.
