Effects of occupational safety experts on occupational accidents: Example of Black Sea Region

Abstract (EN)
Social Securty Agency work accident data between 2014-2018 in Turkey and the Black Sea Region were examined and these data were analyzed. It has been observed that accidents at work and deaths as a result of accidents at work draw a chart that shows a constant increase. This situation shows us how important the increasing number of accidents at work and the losses experienced are in preventing accidents at work, as well as the problems that need to be addressed in the field of Occupational Health and Safety due to the increase in accidents at work. In this study aimed at assessing the effects of Occupational Safety Experts on increased occupational accidents; the online survey of occupational safety experts in the Black Sea Region contributed to the enlightening of why accidents cannot be prevented, how effective experts can be in this regard, the problems of experts and how to prevent accidents. When the data obtained from the study was evaluated, it was observed that the number of accidents at work and deaths as a result of accidents at work increased in the results of SGK data according to the years. In the results of the survey study, 56% of the experts participarting in the study were male and 44% were female, and the average age was 44% in the 20-29 age range and 44% in the 30-39 age range. 58% of Occupational Safety Experts experienced accidents at work in the workplaces they served, while 95% of experts prevented possible accidents at work, but they were not fully competent for reasons such as lack of sanctions, employer pressure, and did not consider themselves adequate. In addition,believing that occupational health and safety are necessary to prevent accidents at workis an important issue, and that workes and employers should be trained to prevent accidents were among the other important results that stood out. With the results of this study, it aims to be useful as a source for reducing accidents at work by removing barriers to preventing accidents at work and ensuring that experts are more effective.
