Comparison of risk analszes using snook tables and reba methods in manual handling in terms of occupation health and safety and determining the perception of occupational health and safety of employees: Sugar factory example

In today's rapidly growing production and service sectors, the inability to use technology sufficiently brings with it the manual, manual handling of works such as transportation, stacking and storage of products. Inappropriate working positions during these procedures cause Occupational Musculoskeletal Disorders (MKISR). In this study, it is aimed to prevent occupational musculoskeletal disorders and to bring regulatory measures that may occur during the manual transportation, storage and stacking processes of sugar production processes in sugar factories in Turkey. In order to detect ergonomic problems during the work and to bring regulatory approaches to these problems, risk assessment was carried out using the example of a sugar factory in this study, using the Snook tables and REBA methods, which are risk assessment methods used specifically for manual handling, in order to determine the factors that cause physical loading on the employees during manual handling. The obtained data were compared with each other and solutions and suggestions were presented. In addition, a questionnaire was applied to measure the occupational health and safety perception of the employees in the departments where risk analysis was applied. The findings obtained from the risk analyses applied in the fields of activity revealed that almost all of the studies conducted are high-risk for musculoskeletal disorders. In this direction, ergonomic corrective measures, which are essential for the well-being of the employee both in his working life and in his daily life, were discussed and improvement suggestions were made for the determined work activities.
