Abstract (EN)

Continuous technological development and increasing competition in the environment necessitate that human resources of an organization need to be led effectively so that organization could accomplish competitive advantage. Such developments are changing the way management of business executed. Organizational citizenship behavior is a contemporary concept which gathers increasing attention of both academics and business leaders. This study focuses on the impact of employees' perceptions about role conflict and role ambiguity on their organizational citizenship behavior. Data for the study obtained from 207 employees of a healthcare organization in Adana. In line with the research purpose five hypotheses were developed and tested. These hypotheses focused on whether role conflict and role ambiguity had any impact on employees organizational citizenship behavior and dimensions of organizational citizenship behavior. Findings showed that the sample mainly consisted of male employees and the rate of married and non-married employees were approximately equal in representation. In terms of educational attainment majority of employees were university graduates in the sample. In terms of their work position, employees with non-managerial positions were the largest category. Correlation analysis showed that role conflict and role ambiguity were correlated with organizational citizenship behavior and its dimensions negatively but in a statistically significant manner. Multiple regression analyses indicated that role conflict and role ambiguity have a negative but statistically significant impact on organizational behavior. Likewise role conflict and role ambiguity have a significant impact on charity dimension of organizational citizenship behavior. Particularly, role conflict and role ambiguity affects the gentlemenship dimension of organizational behavior negatively but strongly. Civility dimension of organizational citizenship behavior especially were affected by role ambiguity negatively and significantly. Finally, consciousness dimension of organizational citizenship behavior was affected by rol ambiguity strongly but negatively.
