Abstract (EN)
Arabic and Hebrew are transmitters of two Abrahamic religions which emerged in the Middle East. As it is well known, Arabic conveyed the divine message of Islam, while Hebrew took the same role in Judaism. Arabic and Judaism have attracted the attention of not only followers of Islam and Judaism but also of ones who were not initiated in these religions. Apart from their religious role, they have also other common aspects. Looking at their roots, both belong to the Semitic language family and are among its most important living languages. Languages which are thought to stem from the same root exhibit similarities with regard to their form/structure. As a result, Arabic and Hebrew manifest structural similarities. Comparative research and examination of languages belonging to the same group provide an opportunity to obtain linguistically significant results. Hence, in this work, it was purported to first constitute the foundation of the research by providing basic information regarding the Semitic language group to which both Arabic and Hebrew belong. Subsequently, the historical background of both languages was taken into consideration. Later on, in the main chapter, the two languages in question were approached and compared regarding the category of "noun" which itself forms the subcategory of language morphology. It was attempted to expose the differences and similarities between Arabic and Hebrew (which until now haven't enjoyed sufficient interest in academic works in our country) on the example of the noun. Keywords: Semitic Langugaes Family, Comparative Arabic, Comparative Hebrew, Noun
