An investigation of the intervention process offered to parents through distance education in supporting the social competencies of children with hearing loss

This study was conducted to examine and improve the intervention process offered to parents through distance education in supporting the social competencies of preschool children with hearing loss between 36 and 72 months. The research was designed as an action research. The participants of the study were individuals with hearing loss attending preschool education and their parents. Based on the observations, interviews and the experiences of the researcher, it was concluded that individuals with special needs have difficulties in the development of social competence. Accordingly, an intervention process was developed and implemented in order to support parents, who are the most important factor affecting the social competence development process. In the research process, various data collection techniques such as field observations, interviews, measurement tools and animations were used. The data collection process of the research was carried out through distance education. Animations and web environment were used in the implementation process. As a result of the application, it was concluded that parents' awareness of social competence increased, they were able to express the behaviors that parents should show correctly, and they became aware of the behaviors they should pay attention to. Similar to the studies in the literature, it was concluded that the parent intervention process was useful and that there is a need for practices that increase parental participation in the process.
