Abstract (EN)

Objective: In our study, we aimed to evaluate the relationship between penumbra / infarct volume with NSE / HSP70 ratio and S100B / HSP70 ratio in patients presenting with acute ischemic stroke. Method: Our study was planned as a prospective, observational and descriptive study. 135 patients who met the study criteria out of 166 patients who applied to the Emergency Service of KTÜ Medical Faculty Hospital between September 1, 2019 and April 1, 2020 with stroke symptoms were included in the study. After the patients were treated according to the current stroke treatment guideline, brain MRI perfusion and diffusion were performed as soon as possible. NSE, S100B and HSP70 levels were evaluated from blood samples taken simultaneously with imaging. According to imaging data, penumbra / infarct volume, NSE / HSP70 and S100B / HSP70 ratios were compared according to biomarker levels in blood samples. Results: According to our results, there was no significant correlation between neither penumbra volume nor infarct volume and HSP-70, NSE or S100B (p> 0.05 for all correlations). There was also no correlation between the penumbra / infarct volume ratio and the HSP-70 / NSE and HSP-70 / S100B ratios (p> 0.05). Conclusion: HSP-70, NSE and S100 B levels do not reflect penumbra and infarct volume in patients with acute ischemic stroke, and the use of these ratios is not appropriate in the diagnosis and treatment of acute ischemic stroke since there is no relationship between the penumbra / infarct ratio and the NSE / HSP70 ratio and the S100B / HSP70 ratio.
