Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study is to investigate the relationship workaholism and life satisfaction. This thesis consists of three parts. In the first chapter, information about the conceptual framework of workaholism was presented. In the second part, the theoretical and conceptual framework of life satisfaction was discussed. In the third and last part of the study, the analysis of the data obtained in the research and the interpretation of the findings obtained as a result of this analysis, and finally the discussion and conclusion part were given. Quantitative research methods were used in the study and measured by using scales which were previously used and validated to Turkish language workaholism and life satisfaction. The 14-item DUWAS scale developed by Schaufeli, Taris and Bakker (2006) which was adapted into Turkish by Doğan and Tel (2011) was used to measure workaholism. The 5-item life satisfaction scale developed by Diener and Pavot in 1993 was used to measure life satisfaction. The data of the study was carried out with the participation of personnel working in a public institution in Ankara. In this context, data were collected through a questionnaire including the related variables. In this context, 295 valid questionnaires were obtained and the data obtained were subjected to relevant analyzes. One basic hypothesis and two sub-hypotheses were developed in the study. In the main hypothesis of the study, a negative relationship between workaholism and life satisfaction was expected as a result of the literature review. As a result of the analyzes performed, this hypothesis (H1) was not supported. The sub-hypotheses of the study are the study of the relationship between over-work and compulsive work and life satisfaction consisting of sub-dimensions of workaholism. With the critical literature rewiew analysis, it is assumed that a negative relationship will be obtained between overwork and compulsive work which are the sub-dimensions of workaholism and life satisfaction. As a result of these analyzes, there was a positive relationship between life satisfaction and over work (H1a) and compulsive study (H1b), which were the sub-hypotheses of the study and hypotheses were not supported.
