Architecture of Islamic states muqarnas used in their buildingsand contemporary of geometric ornament reflections on ceramic art

This thesis, which deals with the reflections of muqarnas and geometric ornaments used in the architectural structures of Islamic states on contemporary ceramic art, consists of three chapters and a conclusion. In the first part of the thesis, the reflections of the geometry discussed in Islamic art, the muqarnas used as a carrier and decoration element in architectural structures, the ornamentation produced with different materials such as plaster, stone and ceramics in different geographies on architectural structures were investigated. In the second part of the thesis, the original contemporary plastic artworks related to the subject discussed within the scope of the thesis were researched and examined. In the third part, original design sketches were tried to be produced within the framework of the artistic influence and conceptual kneading process with the findings obtained in the light of the researches and examinations carried out within the scope of the subject. Based on these sketches, three-dimensional and panel-shaped ceramic applications of the designs developed in line with the principles and elements of art were carried out, and explanations were made about the material, technique, color, form and conceptual content of the original works. It is thought that this thesis study will be a source of inspiration for the studies to be done in this field, new approaches that can provide an original perspective, and current studies.
