The concept of Tibbu'r-Rûhânî in the tradition of Islamic philosophy -an Ibnu'l-Jawzi oriented review–

et-Tıbbu'r-Rûhânî is a discipline that aims to determine the diseases and undesirable situations that occur in the human soul and to treat these diseases. "Achieving happiness" (Tahsilu's-Saade), which is the main purpose of moral science, depends on the individual's training of self by doing right and good actions. At this point, the science of et-Tıbbu'r-Rûhânî, which aims to heal the soul of the individual, is important. Because, this discipline aims to eliminate the deficiencies in the soul of man, who consists of a dual structure in the form of soul and body, and to identify diseases and to restore his mental and physical health. This study examines the concepts related to the science of et-Tıbbu'r-Rûhânî and the background of the concept of et-Tıbbu'r-Rûhânî in philosophy, psychology and Islamic thought, and deals with the issue by focusing on Ibn al-Jawzi. The fact that the science of et-Tıbbu'r-Rûhânî, which is a part of the philosophy tradition, is handled by Ibn al-Jawzi, who is not a philosopher but has a hadithist approach, makes this study original. The elements that compose et-Tıbbu'r-Rûhânî discipline are the theories on the soul-body relationship revealed as a result of seeing the soul as a spiritual substance by Islamic moral philosophy, Greek thought including thinkers such as Aristotle, Plato, Galen, concepts such as psychology and psychiatry that enable the understanding of this science and Islam, the physical and mental health works discussed in the literature, and the works named et-Tıbbu'r-Rûhânî, which were written most notably by Abu Bakr Muhammad Ibn Zakariya Al Razi (Rhazes) and Ibn al-Jawzi. In the first part of the study, "Ibn al-Jawzi and his Scientific Personality" are discussed. Under this title, his life, works and method are revealed. The second part consists of concepts related to the subject under the title of "Conceptual Framework". In this context, the historical development of the concept of et-Tıbbu'r-Rûhânî is emphasized and the concepts related to this concept are included. These concepts are the "concept of Medicine", "the concept of medical ethics", "Virtue and values education", "the concept of nafs" and "the concept of soul". In this section, modern concepts related to the subject are also included. These concepts are "Psychology", "Psychiatry", "Psychotherapy" and Psychoanalysis. In the third chapter, " Ibn al-Jawzi's Place and Contribution in the Medical Tradition" is discussed. This chapter consists of three titles: "Mind and Hevâ in Medicine", "Moral Education in Medicine and Spiritual Diseases" and "Education of the Soul and Ensuring a Perfect Life". "Discipline of Children", "Harmony in the Family and Personal Development" under the title of "Social relations and education in et-Tıbbu'r-Rûhânî" under the main title of "Moral Education in et-Tıbbu'r-Rûhânî and Diseases of the Soul". titles are included. Under the main title of "Moral Education in et-Tıbbu'r-Rûhânî and Diseases of the Soul" and under the heading "Individual education in Medicine: diseases and healing of the "love, greed, stinginess, loving worldly authority, extravagance, lying, envy, grudge, anger, arrogance, sassiness/self-love, hypocrisy, excessive (unnecessary) thinking, excessive sadness, excessive stone and sorrow, anxiety and fear of death, excessive comfort and laziness" and their treatments in terms of Ibn al-Jawzi is being evaluated. At the end of the third chapter, the subject of "Education of the Self and Ensuring the Perfect Life" is discussed in terms of Ibn al-Jawzi.
