The change of democracy idea in Islamist journals (1940-1980)

This study tries to reveal the intellectual effects that is still felt and re-organization and revitalization period during the years 1940-1980 of the Islamist movement which is on the agenda of Turkey more than hundred years and its relationship with democracy and the change in the idea of democracy of the Islamists through the Islamist magazine publishing. To understand the problematic of the thesis in a healthy way; primarily, the concept of democracy and Turkey's democratic journey are transferred with reference to the authority resourses through a literature review. The reasons for the emergence of the Islamist movement, the Islamists' thoughts about the political system and governance, and the Islamists' democracy debates are discussed as a separate chapter. In the third chapter, the thoughts of the Islamists on the theory of democracy and the change in their ideas about the democracy are tried to be set forth through textual analysis of the content obtained from Hareket and Büyük Doğu journals published between 1940-1980. In the final chapter, the findings obtained from the Islamist journals has been evaluated.
