The Islamic tone of the Justice and Development Party's rule in the context of Islamic politics

In this study, the historical development of the Islamic reflex and "Muslim sensitivities" which developed against the adaptation and modernization attempts of the era and transformed from reaction to demand were examined. The thesis argued in this study is that the AK Party is shaped in the context of Muslim sensitivities and the Islamic approach become more visible as its ruling gets stronger. The new arrangements and renewal initiatives brought about by the transformation in every aspect of life that began with the Tanzimat Era also caused a visible reaction in the form of "Muslim sensitivities". This reaction deepened as the state was powerless in economic, political and military fields. Muslims who are in superior position according to the Shariah have lost their positions. In addition, the idea that Western rules and institutions were undermined Islam was strengthened. And the opposition to innovation has increased. Said Halim Pasha reacted to modernization from an Islamic perspective. According to him, Muslims moved away from Islamic life and imitated the West. In this case, it has given rise to the collapse of the Muslim state and Muslim society. The Republican Revolutions were the peak of the modernization process that began with the Tanzimat. Muslim sensitivities and the rising reaction over it continued in this period as well. The political organization, which emerged by the name "Milli Görüş", placed Western imitation and Islamic approach at the center of political discourse. The national vision shaped the minds of the founders of the AK Party. Although the AK Party breaks away from Islamic politics in time, it still has an Islamic tone. As the political hegemony of the AK Party increases, its Islamic tone comes to become prominent. Especially education policies and the religious generation discourses of the party's sole decision-maker, Erdogan, make the intention of constructing an Islamic one visible.
