Abstract (EN)
In this research, occupational safety and health (OSH) culture and performance in the construction sector, where occupational accidents are most often result in physical and mental disability, are discussed. The study focuses on measuring the dimensions of OSH performance and OSH culture in construction sites and to revel the relationship between them. The survey was conducted at the construction sites operating in the Samsat and Kahta districts of Adıyaman province. The safety performance and safety culture survey, which was prepared on a 5 level Likert scale with 25 questions, was conducted to the workers employed in these construction sites. The group consisted of 100 participants including site managers, security workers, engineers, machine operators, foremen, and workers. The questionnaire consists of two parts. Pre-questionnaire (8 questions) collect personal information of the respondents. The second part of the questionnaire includes 25 questions to measure the dimensions of the OSH culture and OSH performance. 11 of these questions are directed on the safety culture (Organizational commitment, management participation, employee participation, rewarding and reporting mechanisms). The remaining 14 questions are related to safety performance (OHS policy, responsibility, consciousness, training-competence, communication, subcontractor management, injury management, incident investigation). These two parameters have been studied on a bow tie analysis. The survey results were examined by SPSS software (version 18.0). Furthermore, to assess the influence of demographic features of the workers on the safety culture and safety performance, ANOVA test was applied. In order to determine the connection between the OSH culture and OSH performance, correlation analysis was made. The survey results were analyzed by simple linear regression to test the hypothesis of the research.
