In This study, the life, Works and historian identity of the İsmail Hâmi Danişmend who has significant contributions on the Turkish history was discussed. İsmal Hâmi, who was born in 1889 in Merzifon, wrote poems, work on language and translations in addition to his Works on Turkish history and culture. Most of his Works were created in 1955 ahter he was acquitted of the Ankara Independence Court where he was charged with "treason". While creating his Works, he made researches in the Hagia Sophia and Nuru Osmaniye Libraries, the archives of Prime Ministry, Ottoman and Conquest. His Works were not in the form of academic studies but have the characteristics of the traditional histography. In this respect, it has reached a wide audience. The study consist of three parts. In The First Chapter: His childhood, youth, educational background, working life, marriages, personality, ideological background, political life, and death are included. In The Second Chapter: Before the Works of İsmail Hâmi were introduced, it was given in the order of publication date.In addition to his Works, his articles and conferences are presented in chronological order along with their topics. In The Last Chapter: The historian identity of İsmail Hâmi and his contributions to Turkish history was discussed.
