Ismet Altikardes's contributions to the sociology of religion

This study on İsmet Altıkardeş's sociology of religion aims to reveal in detail our thinker's contributions to the sociology of religion. Altıkardeş's works offer an important perspective on how Islam organizes human life and attaches importance to social responsibilities. This study will contribute to the field of sociology of religion by providing an in-depth analysis of Altıkardeş's views on this subject. This study begins by examining the basic concepts of Altıkardeş's sociology of religion, namely the concepts of human, society and religion. By discussing these concepts in detail, the study aims to explain how Altıkardeş evaluates these basic constructs. In the context of his contributions to the sociology of religion, Altıkardeş's approach to the phenomenon of education, his view of social problems, his understanding of religion, his views on the modernization of Muslims, and his thoughts on the criteria of being a good person and a good Muslim constitute the focus of this study. Altıkardeş believes that education plays an important role in improving human quality. He analyzes how a quality education improves people's knowledge and skills, helps individuals to know themselves, and enables them to be useful individuals to society. Altıkardeş believes that the solution to social problems can be achieved by adhering to the basic principles of Islam. The thesis aims to provide a valuable perspective on the social challenges facing today's society by discussing Altıkardeş's approach to social problems and his thoughts on how these problems can be solved in accordance with the principles of Islam. Altıkardeş argues that religion is not only an individual belief system, but also a system that organizes society and provides a moral framework. The thesis examines Altıkardeş's understanding of religion and his views on how religion plays a role in the process of modernization and examines the effects of religion on social dynamics. The literature review and interpretive paradigm used in the qualitative research method during the research process provided a suitable framework to deeply understand and analyze Altıkardeş's perspective. Altıkardeş's books, articles and one-on-one interviews were used as the main sources in the thesis. In addition, verses and hadiths supporting Altıkardeş's thoughts were also used in the thesis. This study can be considered as a study that provides original and important contributions to Altıkardeş's sociology of religion. According to Altıkardeş, the main problem of a contemporary Muslim individual is his own inner being. In this context, the ideal of modernity requires a combination of a conscious mind, logical thinking, the ability to choose, research, honesty and moral behavior. Altıkardeş's reflections on these issues provide a valuable perspective on the religious and social dynamics of contemporary society.
