History congresses in the İsmet İnönü period

The thesis entitled "History Congresses in the İsmet İnönü Period", covers the years between 1938 and 1950 when İnönü was the president. Turkish History Congresses were organized two times on between 15 and 20 November 1943, and between 10 and 14 November 1948. With the declaration of Republic, history congresses were held in 1932 and 1937 during the Atatürk period. The congress that organized in the Atatürk period were mainly about the roots and the language of Turks, and Turkishness while the congresses that held in İnönü period were about humanism, the changes in the understanding of the history, and more cultural topics. At the III. Turkish History Congress held on 15-20 November 1943, which was the subject of the thesis, mainly the proclamation about the Greek Civilization and the former owners of Anatolia and their connection with the Turks were emphasized. Changes in the approach to Ottoman history were observed both in terms of content and method. Unlike previous history congresses, Ottoman history has been a scientific field of study. IV. Turkish History Congress was held on 10-14 November 1948. Reşat Şemseddin Siren, who was the Minister of Education after Hasan Ali Yücel, is replaced by Tahsin Banguoğlu which made the history politics more precise. It is seen that a humanist understanding came to the forefront in this period. Although there are similar areas in the congress as in the 3rd Turkish History Congress, studies on a number of subjects have become widespread.
