Experiences of university students in Spain related to the classes of Turkish as a foreign language: Sample of University of Granada

The purpose of this study is to reveal experiences of students of Turkish as a foreign language course in University of Granada in Spain in a wide range extending from pre-learning to post-learning periods. This research is a case study and it is conducted using in-depth interview method, one of the qualitative research methods. a semi-structured interview form is prepared to carry out the research by the researcher under control of the master's thesis supervisor and an expert of educational sciences. In-depth interviews are made via the semi-structured interview form with 18 volunteer students participating Turkish classes in University of Granada during 2015-2016 and 2016-2017 academic years. The data is analyzed via content analysis method. The findings are evaluated in the light of literature and the results are presented under 11 main titles. The results of the study covers reasons why students learn foreign languages, reasons why students started learning Turkish and their purposes to use Turkish, students' attendance and participance in the classes, students' opinions about Turkey before and after the classes, expectations from the course and their positive and negative feelings before the classes, difficulties students faced during classes, points students felt themselves successful during the classes, how they use Turkish outside the class, students' experiences about learning Turkish from a native speaker teacher, how they plan to improve Turkish after the course, good sides of the classes and the points to be improved.
