In our thesis, the handwritten books, found in Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Ataturk Library, about Sarf (Conjugation of Arabic words) and Nahiv (Grammar of Arabic language) have been studied. The goal of this study is to establish a consciousness about the original handwritten books and encourage people to protect this invaluable heritage and make use of them. In the thesis, after a brief reminder notes about the history of Sarf and Nahiv, the main schools of Nahiv has been summarized. Number of books found in Ataturk Kitapligi about Sarf and Nahiv (most of them are in Arabic) is 113. All these books have been investigated, and information was gathered about volume properties, contents and authors. During our investigation, despite the fact that none of these books were original, seemingly they were used in Medrese education intensively, and some of them demonstratereally goodcalligraphicand ornamentation examples.
