Social and spatial reflection of urban transformation projects in iİstanbul Esenler (In the neighbourhoods of Çifte Havuzlar, Havaalani, Turgut Reis)

Istanbul has intensely allowed immigrants since 1950s. There fore, unlicensed construction sand new shantytowns have emergedduring the period. The 1999 Gölcük earthquake which was killed above 17,000 people, revealed a need of contemporary urban planning understanding. In 2012, The Law No. 6306 on the Transformation of Areas Under Disaster Risk accelerated the urban transformation. In Istanbul's Esenler District, five neighborhoods have urban transformation projects, and this law showed as a basic foundation in four of them. Inthisstudy, it was examined urban transformations whichareapplying in Çifte Havuzlar, Havaalanı and Turgut Reis neighborhoods in Esenler. Social and spatial changes caused orwill be cause by urban transformations in the neighborhoods was interpreted with a geographic perspective by doing field studies and collecting data from the neighborhoods. Big majority of bulildings in Esenler county have done illegal and formationed from buildings wich was completed life span. This state has couse to people's want to renew their buildings. Besides people of quarter district have wanted live in the same neighborhoods for their new buildings's place. Neighborhood's culture and want of all together life's importance exposes. However % 45 of add to questionnaire worry about to loss deserve. There are lots of different causes from this worry originate. The urban transformatioon information meeting have'nt supplyed efective expectation level. Because % 80 of add to questionnaire want to take information again. The public sector is more important at the execute of urban transformation project at Esenler. There are some discussions execute onto buildings wich made by TOKİ. Completed urban transformation Project had been needed expectation % 33 of urban people. This result exposes to us which the social and cultural worth considered at the urban transformation project at Turgut Reis neighborhood.
