Abstract (EN)

Founded in different places and different times by operating between the Republic of Turkey on Independence Tribunals 1920-1927 year has been of great importance. The Independence Tribunals differed according to the conditions of the period and the characteristics of the region in which it was established. However, if we need to group the tribunals in general terms, we can separate these tribunals as Independence Tribunals before and after the Republic. While the tribunals that were active before the Republic, ie during the National Struggle, were called with the intention of the struggle for existence, they were called the revolutionary tribunals. After the Republic, the Independence Tribunals are called reform tribunals the purpose of ensuring the continuation of the Republican regime and helping to realize the reforms. In this study, Istanbul Independence Tribunal which is one of the Independence Tribunals of Republic Period is discussed. In this context, the political situation before the establishment of the tribunal, the members of the tribunal, the activities of the tribunal and the cases that the tribunal is looking at are examined in detail.
