Abstract (EN)

While the urbanization process that has taken place in the last 50 years causes surface changes in the cities, it also plays an important role on climate parameters such as precipitation. In this respect, Istanbul, which has been in a rapid urbanization process since 1950s, has been determined as a study area for this purpose and this process has been studied over long term meteorological data sets. In this thesis, the extent to which the growth caused by the urbanization process in İstanbul is affected by the changes on the " daily total precipitation" and " the number of days with snowfall" data are examined. For this purpose, the data on long-term "daily total precipitation" and "number of snow days" belonging to the Florya, Sarıyer, Kumköy-Kilyos, Şile and Kadıköy Rıhtım meteorology stations within the borders of Istanbul. -Kruskall Wallis H Test -Regression Analysis -Chi-Square and Chi-Square Similarity Tests With the inquiries made at the level of %95 significance, the significance of monthly and seasonal distributions was studied. According to these results, there is a statistically significant increase in the long-term average of "daily total precipitation" in some months. According to the regression analysis performed on the "snow days" number of years, the number of days with decreases as the years increase. This situation gives us results about the changes in the urbanization process and precipitation parameters in İstanbul.
