The assessment of the cases whom have had claimed mobbing experiences admitted to Forensic Medicine Polyclinic of İstanbul University Medical Faculty

Introduction and Objective: Psychological harassment in workplace is a multidiciplinary and multidimentional subject commonly defined as mobbing. This dissertation study was based on data retrospectively obtained from the cases admitted to I.U. Department of Forensic Sciences, the Turkish version of the Negative Acts Questionnaire-Reveised (NAQ-TR) and researches related to subject in order to provide an integrated resource to the concept of mobbing, standardization for diagnosis and contribution to data for future studies. Method: In this study, the cases reported in I.U. Department of Forensic Sciences were screened. NAQ-TR scale and "Sociodemographic Data Form" were assessed with people's consent. Results were analysed via SPSSver.21.0. Findings: 261 cases had been reported between 2008-2018 and 171(%66) were compatible with mobbing and 33(%13) were not. The mean age in the cases compatible with mobbing was 40±8, 121(%71) were female, 50(29) were male, %56 were undergraduated, %28 were graduated and master's degree, %95 were exposed to vertical mobbing. As a consequence of the traumatic event, %70 of the cases had depressive disorder, %57 had PTSD and %15 had adjustment disorder. Discussion and Result: Mobbing is a crucial stressor that affects people's health. A forensic medical examination comprising objective diagnosis criteria is important for the evaluation of mobbing-claimed cases due to its hazardous outcomes for workplaces/economy and public health which causing resignation, health/insurance expences, early retirement. The findings obtained from the cases, in which education and health sector admissions were in the first place, were found to be significantly compatible with studies conducted in this field. It is significant to contribute developing strategies for diagnosis/differential diagnosis and prevention.
