Examination of Istanbul Rare Books Library Journal Numbered T1951 Mecmua-ı Gazelliyât-ı Müntehabe, its translation written text and its classification according to the Systematic Classification of Journals Project (MESTAP)

Magazines in general, and poetry magazines in particular, which present us with the literary accumulation created in the field of classical Turkish literature and are undoubtedly mentioned among the most important written sources of this field, continue to be the subject of new and original studies every day. Each poetry magazine performs an extremely important function in terms of presenting to us a poet whose name we have not heard of before and his poems, in addition to the poems of the poets whose divan we have in our possession, which are not included in the divans, and the poems of the poets whose divan has not been identified, which are not among the poems that are collected and introduced in a publication. The ghazal magazine registered in Istanbul University Rare Books Library with the number T1951 and titled "Mecmua-i Gazeliyyât-İ Müntehabe" is also the subject of our study. The fact that this journal in question has not been studied before, and that the literary accumulation in it has been introduced in the form of a translated text and examined according to the Systematic Classification of Journals Project (MESTAP) shows that our study has a unique value. The entire work consists of 97 pages and the literary accumulation in it is among the "4b- 96a" pages. In the journal; There are a total of 330 ghazals: Âhî (10 ghazals), Bâkî (67 ghazals), Dânişî (4 ghazals), Emrî (32 ghazals), Figânî (20 ghazals), Hayâlî (39 ghazals), Hayretî (4 ghazals), Hilâlî (14 ghazals), Necâtî (26 ghazals), Nev'î (4 ghazals), Rahmî' (28 ghazals), Sa'yî' (6 ghazals), Sun'î (10 ghazals), Ubeydî (12 ghazals), Ümîdî (24 ghazals) and Zâtî's (30 ghazals). In addition, although the work bears the title of ghazal magazine, it also contains an ode by 5 different poets (Bâkî, Figânî, Hayâlî, Necâtî and Zâtî). Among the poets whose poems are found in the magazine, only the century in which Dânişî lived could not be determined definitively. Of the poets other than Dânişî, Nacâtî lived in the 15th century and the other 14 poets all lived in the 16th century. Our study consists of 5 parts. In the first part; The definition, importance, classification of the magazine and especially the poetry magazines and the Systematic Classification of Magazines Project (MESTAP) were mentioned. In the second part; The copy recommendation of the magazine that is the subject of the study, the century in which the poets whose poems we encounter lived, the nazim forms of the poems, the aruz patterns and the content characteristics were emphasized. In the third part, after specifying the methods used in the establishment of the translated written text, the accumulation of poems in the journal is introduced in the form of a translated written text. In addition to the introduction in the form of a translated text, an edition critical study was also carried out based on comparing the poems in the journal with the forms of these poems in the divans or in various publications. In the fourth part; The first and last couplets of the poems in the magazine, the MESTAP table containing information about the form/types of nazim in which they were written and the aruz patterns were presented. In the fifth part, the conclusion, bibliography and appendices are included. Our work will fulfill an extremely important function in terms of introducing the poets and their poems that we are not yet aware of, and revealing the unknown poems of the poets who have divan or various poems in our hands. At this point, when the poems in the magazine were examined, although there were no poets or poets that we could call new, it was determined that a total of 5 poems, 4 of which belonged to Bursalı Rahmî and 1 ghazal of Âhî, were not included in the published divans of these poets. Our study will have made important contributions to the world of science by introducing these new poems.
