Abstract (EN)

The concept of sustainable tourism has gained importance over the years all over the world and prepares a step for the emergence of new concepts. The concept of responsible tourism as a branch of sustainable tourism is thought to be one of the ways of managing tourism. The responsible tourism approach, which aims to reduce the negative economic, environmental and social effects of tourism and to provide benefits to the local people, includes the awareness of all stakeholders in the destination and the practices they carry out within the framework of these responsibilities. The aim of this study is to measure the perceptions of responsible tourism by applying a face-to-face survey to tourists visiting Istanbul. The role of tourism in responsible tourism and the responsible tourism perceptions of tourists coming to Istanbul have been evaluated. Although both theoretical and practical responsible approaches and practices towards the problems in the world are developing, they are still not at the desired level. This is one of the main reasons for addressing this issue. Thus, it is aimed to take precautions and make suggestions for the future in order to realize responsible tourism. For the thesis, a survey was conducted to measure the responsible tourism perceptions of domestic and foreign tourists visiting Istanbul in different periods of 2022-2023. A total of 401 people were reached and their opinions were taken. SPSS 24 (Statistical Package for Social Sciences) package program was used in the evaluation of the data obtained in the research. As a result of the data obtained, significant differences were determined in terms of educational status and nationality variables.
