The impact of the perceived safety climate in the workplace on the psychosocial risk factors: A research on private security guards working in the Adana Metropolitan Municipality

Studies on the safety climate are increasing day by day and gaining importance. In the studies reached within the literature, it is concluded that the safety climate in the workplace is highly effective in the implementation of occupational health and safety practices in the most correct way and increasing the productivity by developing positive attitudes towards the worker. In the studies conducted on the perception of psychosocial risk factors other than physical, chemical and biological risks in the workplace, it is observed that psychosocial risks generally occur because the managers do not pay enough attention to individual and organizational problems in the workplace, ignore them and avoid producing permanent solutions. In this respect, the studies examining the effect of the perception of positive safety climate developed by the worker towards the workplace in the workplace in reducing psychosocial risks are of great importance. This study was carried out to determine the effect of perception of workplace safety climate on psychosocial risk factors perception. For this purpose, a quantitative survey was conducted by applying a survey technique on private security guards working in Adana Metropolitan Municipality. The data obtained were analyzed with SPSS 22.0 and Amos 22.0 programs. Findings were obtained by Pearson correlation analysis, multiple regression analysis, independent t-test and one-way anova test. Within the scope of the study, literature review and experimental research on the concepts of safety culture, safety climate and psychosocial risk factors were conducted. As a result of the study, it was found that the perception of safety climate in the workplace was effective on the perception of psychosocial risk factors and there was a negative and significant relationship between them.
