Abstract (EN)

Determining the determinants of occupational accidents and near miss accidents and the factors affecting their reporting; It is an intervention type research that aims to determine the effect of awareness training on reporting and to evaluate the association of near miss and occupational accidents. The number of the participants of research is 321 (Intervention: 219 - Control: 102) people. Status detection data was collected in June-August 2015; Follow-up continued until August 2016. The form includes demographic variables, habits, work life variables, psychosocial risk factors, general health status, work environment assessment, PPE usage situations, used machine(s) / machine guard use. In the intervention workplace, a Near Miss Accident Awareness Training was given. Descriptive statistics, t-test, chi-square test, Kaplan-Meier Survival Analysis and Cox Regression were used in the analysis. As a risk standart, Hazard Ratio was used and, 95% CI shared. Differences in age, gender and educational status among workplaces are non significant. Intervention workplace employees are more experienced in work life. Those who receive OHS training the beginning of work are more in the intervention workplace, and the risk of occupational accidents is perceived at the "moderate" level. Men, those with secondary education and low education, those who smoke, those who earn minimum wage and below, those who work an average of 10 and 11 hours a day, those who work more than 60 hours a week, those who work overtime, those who work in shifts, those who define their occupational risk knowledge level as insufficient-bad, those who have high risk of using machinery point. Those who have a high score and a high level of work stress have more work accidents and near miss accidents than the others. Occupational accident risk in multivariate analysis after intervention; It increases with working overtime, working in shifts, defining occupational risk knowledge level as insufficient-bad, and job stress. The risk of near miss accident increases with working overtime and earning minimum wage or less. When the situation detection and intervention duration reporting rates are compared, the increase in the intervention workplace is insignificant and the effect of the intervention is limited. However, the significant difference between the near miss accident reporting rates in favor of the control workplace has disappeared and the initiative has been partially effective in the near miss accident reportigns. The increase in the number of occupational accident reportings is also limited and the intervention is partially effective. Key words : near miss accident, occupational accident, awareness, reporting
