The impact of good governance principles in creating public values: The case of Ankara Metropolitan Municipality

The social, economic and political changes in the world bring about changes in the management systems. Many new management approaches are emerging to meet the differing needs and demands. The understanding of governance, which is one of them, describes a management system that includes more participation and many more principles. In order to meet the different expectations in this management system, public services are undergoing major transformations. The number of public services that include good governance principles is increasing day by day in this context. In this direction, the concept of public value, which cares not only for the delivery of public services but also for the satisfaction and sense of value that occurs immediately after, becomes connected with the principles of good governance. In this research, it is aimed to determine whether good governance principles are effective in creating public value. In the first stage, it is explained how the concepts of good governance and public value are used in the literature in sections. Afterwards, a separate section was created to explain the method of the study and how the questionnaire statements were prepared. The study was carried out by applying the survey method on the people in the service area of Ankara Metropolitan Municipality in order to prove the mentioned thesis. As a result of the study, it was seen that good governance principles are very effective in creating public value, and public services, where each principle is applied, create a very high sense of satisfaction on citizens.
