Determine of woman breast cancer risk factors, knowledge and practice who live in Balçova district

This study aimed to investigate the breast cancer risk factors, knowledge and practice of the women who live in Balçova districtStudy population was consisted of 210 women from Balçova where is the district of İzmir. For to chose study population we use field screening method which has suggested by World Heath Organisation (WHO). For data collection we used a questionnaire formWe determined that 80.5 %of women have low risk and 19.5 % of moderate risk. There is no women who have high risk of berast cancer. Women knowledge and practice about breast cancer are low levels. We determined that women who have high knowlegde level about breast cancer is 7.2% and who have high level about practice is 32.8 %. The age, education degree, marital, working, status, monthly income and health insurance are effected the knowledge and practice of breast cancer.Nurses have an important place in service and they must give priority to the women who have got risk of breast cancer and to plan education about breast cancer and screening of it. For Balçova distict, health professionals must canalize public about Tülay AKTAŞ cancer early diagnosis and education center which make examinations free of payment.Key Words: breast cancer, risk, knowledge and practice.
