Abstract (EN)
Jacques Lecoq, a leading pedagogue of contemporary theatre, has significantly contributed to 20th-century theatre with his approach centered on the actor's physicality. One dramatic field he has developed for actor training and staging is Bouffon theatre. This method establishes a disturbing relationship with the audience through a non-normative and political approach that highlights the grotesque and the marginal. This thesis aims to investigate Lecoq's Bouffon theatre from a theoretical perspective and to explore - both theoretically and practically - how Alfred Jarry's play Ubu the King aligns with its implementation using the language of the grotesque, Bouffon aesthetics, and pataphysics. In the theoretical study, it was observed that Jacques Lecoq's Bouffon theatre offers interpretive textual possibilities and an original staging methodology. The stage energy, use of the body, and political style of the Bouffons form a model for interpreting texts such as King Ubu in applied research.
