The relationship among figure, place and loneliness in Jan Vermeer's paintings

This study involves the issue of the relationship among figure, place and loneliness in Jan Vermeer's paintings. In the study it was aimed to investigate the paintings of Jan Vermeer, who lived in Holland in the 17th Century, for the points of the relationship among figure, place and loneliness. The thesis was arranged by the scanning model. The thesis was occured by using descriptive analysis that is one of the gualitative research methods based on that model. According, to the results gained in the research, Genre paintings were occured with countless messages in the gold period of Holland and it was seen that they were the paintigs that caught all segments fancy of the society. It is staded that the place were Genre paintigs, hence Jan Vermeer's paintigs, became integrated and the community's moral values were reflected was Holland. It is also pointed that Jan Vermeer's paintigs were created by taking social and cultural factors into consideration and they reflect loneliness in a poetic stayle. Attention was especially drawn on opinions about his being disscussed identity and his works in the critical evaluation context. Based on Feldman's Researching Art Critism Method Vermeer's paintigs that he created according to his time's likes startingm from history and mythology and his paintings that reflect loneliness were analysed. Statements were made about the usage of plastic elements and principles in those paintings that were chosen with the analyse scope. Jan Vermeer's paintig adventure was handled integrally and the consideration was carried out upon the symbols that he presented in those paintigs. The conclusion reached is that the guality of Jan Vermeer's paintings that take place in Holland's Genre Painting are really important.
