Abstract (EN)
Konstantin Nikolayevich Batyushkov (1787-1855) is one of the most innovator poets in Russian history. Batyushkov marks his era with his strong satirical poems and light verses. Poet, synthesizing different characteristics of classicism, romanticism, sentimentalism, writes his poems under the thumb of Ancient Greece and Roman literature, Italian literature of Renaissance and French literature. Philosophy of epicureanism, affecting on early period of his art, allows him to create his own unique personality type in works, glorifying the cult of pleasure and featuring earthly happiness. In accordance with his worldview "Live how you write, write how you live", he reflects his biography in poems. In addition to his own life story, he poet, who is not indifferent to the historical events of his own lifetime, subjectively narrates his impressions gained from the wars he participated in, the human landscapes and the mental states of the individuals on the basis of historical reality. Patriotic War of 1812 becomes a milestone for the poet. A great change occurs in the choice of themes in Batyushkov's post-war poems forming the second period of his art. The early period letter poems, in which the poet recommends his friends to enjoy life, are replaced by letter poems, calling for help to the relatives of the people who lost their lives in the war. Batyushkov uses Ancient Greek and Roman mythologies in all periods of his art to reflect the inner world of the individual. In the light of these information, the aim of our thesis is to reveal the themes and topics that Batyushkov deals with in his poems through mainly original examples, and to analyze the poet's autobiography and characteristics of his period in the light of the available information. Another aim of the thesis is to determine Batyushkov's place and importance in the 19th century Russian literature.
