Postmodern elements in novels of Kaan Murat Yanik

Kaan Murat Yanık is one of the young writers who started his art life with poetry in the last period of our article and went on with stories and novels. In his works, a fiction which explains the cultural codes of these two civilizations by discussing the relationship between the civilizations of Eastern and Western from the perspectives of religion, history and geography becomes preminent. While Yanık reflects the traces of postmodern tendency which shines out in today's article together with magical realism, he attracts attention as one of the prominent names in terms of showing the new tendencies in Turkish novel after 2000. In his novels, which can be read as a criticism against grand narratives of modernism, Yanık prefers a narration that prioritizes the individual's psychology. This study aims to identify the postmodern tendencies in our recent literature by identifying postmodern elements in Kaan Murat Yanık's novels. The study identifies elements of metafiction, intertextuality, magical realism, detective fiction and suspence, alienation, pluralism and multiculturalism, postmodern attitudes towards religion and history, game and carnival in Yanık's novels; traces of postmodernism's approach to language are shown.
