Abstract (EN)
Kabak kemane education in Turkey is given in State Conservatories of Turkish Music (at university level) in a traditional way and based on master-apprentice relationship. Folk songs and varieties of different traditional dance music in the repertoire of T.R.T (Turkish Radio and Television Corporation) are generally used in the education of rebab. However, no printed method study except one or two related to the practical teaching of Kabak Kemane has been encountered. The aim of this study is to contribute to the education of Kabak kemane which is a traditional instrument of the Turkish Folk Music based on stringed instrument methods (at beginners' level) which are accepted in the west and in our country and by means of creating a universal and methodological approach. This study is a descriptive research and general survey model was used in order to acquire data in the process of research. Additionally, qualitative research method was used as the study involves method research. The data was acquired via survey and interview forms and subjected to content analysis. Local and foreign twelve commonly used violin methods, three viola methods, four cello methods, three contrabass methods, two Kamança methods and finally one Kabak kemane method were studied elaborately. Common points in all the methods and ways of teaching were studied and a systematic at beginners' level was built by taking the characteristics of the Kabak kemane into consideration. The study aims to bring the Kabak kemane into universal extent with this respect. Key Words: Traditional Turkish Music, Kabak Kemane, Methodology
