Title of the thesis: Qadi Abdülcebbâr's understanding of tawhid

The main theme of our thesis is shaped around Qādî Abdülcebâr's views on monotheism and his criticism of the inconsistencies of ideas contrary to monotheism that were prevalent in his time. In our study, after giving information about Kādî's life, his dominant role in the sect and the works he published, we focused on his evaluations on monotheism, his thoughts on the relationship between person and attribute and the impossibility of more than one creator. Then, Kādî's criticisms about God that are not permissible and are included in this regard. Additionally, among the issues we consider; Qādī's criticisms against schools advocating dualist theories, Judaism, which embraces anthropomorphic belief, and Christianity, which advocates the doctrine of trinity, are also included. Qādī built the idea of monotheism on the impossibility of attributes separate from the essence of Allah. Otherwise, accepting attributes that are separate from the person would harm the unity of Allah. Our study deals with Qādī's criticisms of views contrary to Tawhid in a systematic and versatile way, using the stated basic principle. Keywords: Kalam, Tawhid, Shirk, Kādî Abdülcebbâr, Mu'tezile.
