Abstract (EN)

In this research, 88 participants were interviewed in Bayburt, an Eastern Black Sea city in Turkey, with disparities in gender, age, education level, marital status, place of residence, and income level. The society's perception of women in various parts of the city, the position of women in the society, and the change of this perception and position through time were explored based on these interviews and researcher observations. The society in Bayburt has experienced fast change in recent years although it preserves the traits of a traditional society. Along with this change process, there have been changes in the cultural structure of the society and the ways of understanding and interpreting religion. Along with these changes, there have been changes in the social position and status of women in society, and in the perspective of women. In the study, the general perception of women in society was mentioned. All of the participants participating in the research stated that there has been a change in the social position and status of women, their perspectives on women, and their perceptions of women, with the socio-cultural change process in recent years. Although the number of women who exist outside the social position and status generally accepted in society and assigned to women, there has been a small number. For example, when we look at the past years, it is seen that although there are definite rules set by the society for women's education, a small number of women receive advanced education. Although this situation has improved today, that is, women's education has been supported, there are still restrictions on women's education in society.
