Abstract (EN)

The main purpose of this research is to compare female athletics athletes and sedentary women in terms of their social physique concerns and satisfaction levels with their body parts. For this purpose, adult athletes from various branches of athletics (throwing, jumping, running and walking) were included in the study using the stratified sampling method and sedentary adult women using the convenience sampling method from the population. In this study, which was carried out with the relational scanning model, a total of 3 separate forms were sent to the participants as a data collection tool in order to obtain their opinions in relevant areas. These; "Demographic Information Form", "Social Appearance Anxiety Scale" and "Satisfaction with Body Regions and Features Survey". Raw data obtained with these data collection tools were analyzed using SPSS (26th version) software. In addition to descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA and correlation analysis were used as analysis techniques. Analysis results showed that sedentary women had higher social appearance concerns due to their athletic status and that athletics athletes were more satisfied with their body parts. It was found that there was no difference in social appearance anxiety levels depending on educational status, but in terms of satisfaction with body parts, mainly those at secondary school and high school level received higher scores than those at university level. It has been determined that those who perceive their income as high, based on the perceived monthly average income level, have higher social appearance anxiety and are more satisfied with their body parts. It was concluded that there is a low-level negative relationship between age and social appearance anxiety, and that there are also relationships in terms of satisfaction with body parts, although their direction and severity vary. Finally, when the relationship between social appearance anxiety and satisfaction with body parts was examined, it was found that there was a moderate negative relationship.
