Abstract (EN)
Today, consumption is defined as a process that focuses on meeting psychological and sociological needs as well as meeting physiological needs. Consumption culture has become a passion for consumers who demand more than needs. Consumers' brand and product preferences tend to be shaped according to symbolic features as well as functional characteristics. Women, who are more visible in social life, have revealed their differences from their counterparts through the consumption of design products. Increasing diversity in product categories has maximized the concern of conveying messages with symbolic meanings. This situation has attracted the attention of many disciplines and has been dealt with from different perspectives. Nowadays, people shape their lifestyles and focus on consumption. for this reason, symbolic values have become a subject which is emphasized both for consumers and producers. In this study, it is aimed to examine the sociological and psychological benefits of the bags through the concepts of self, identity and status, and to examine the meanings expressed by the components of the design bags in terms of semiotics. The semantics, which focuses on analyzing the sequence of indicators that constitute the basis of verbal and visual communication and examining the meanings it contains, will be examined in the scope of visual semiotics in the examination of women's handbag design products.
