Factors affecting women's entrepreneurship: The case of Bartın province example

Abstract (EN)

Recently, the entrepreneurship factor has gained importance because of rapidly changing technological developments and economic expectations. Depending on this situation, there is an increase in the number of entrepreneurs. In addition, the interest in women entrepreneurship, which is one of the sub-branches of the concept of entrepreneurship, is increasing and it is seen that women are also involved in business life as an entrepreneurial individual. On the other hand, although it is known that entrepreneurial women support the growth and development of the local economy, it can be said that they face many factors arising from social factors as well as economic conditions. It can be stated that women can contribute to the development of the region where they are located through entrepreneurship activities thanks to the solution suggestions to be reached because of identifying these factors and problems. In this study, it is aimed to determine the entrepreneurial qualities of entrepreneurial women, the reasons for starting entrepreneurship, the factors affecting their success and failure in entrepreneurial activity, their position in working life and their fields of activity. An interview form containing 6 questions was created within the scope of the semi-structured interview technique, which is among the qualitative research methods. With the form prepared, it was tried to obtain the data of the research by determining the attitudes of entrepreneur women operating in Bartın. In this respect, the research is based on interviews with 15 women entrepreneurs registered in Bartın Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The data obtained from the interviews were put in a logical order using descriptive analysis method, and then interpreted and conclusions were tried to be reached. Within the scope of the interviews, the reasons why women entrepreneurs decide to become entrepreneurs, the problems they face as women in their business life, the qualifications related to the sector in which they operate, the institutions and organizations they receive support as entrepreneurs, and their suggestions and recommendations for women who want to become entrepreneurs were focused on. It can be said that the views expressed by entrepreneur women, who have a very important position in terms of economic and social welfare, can contribute to women who will start entrepreneurship activities.
