Abstract (EN)
With the industrial revolution, women have begun to be employed and to gain social rights by getting free from their traditional roles. Women have become more and more empowered in the social rights and economic area with the effect of liberal policies and globalization that have developed over time. Women that have their own businesses as entrepreneurs or to be employed as the result of vocational training with developing the structure of organized society and women-oriented non-governmental organizations (NGO's) are important in terms of women's rights and country's economy. In Turkey, there are also women-oriented non-governmental organizations that operate on the employment and entrepreneurship of women. This study focused on women-oriented non-governmental organizations working on women's' employment and entrepreneurship. The relation of women-oriented non-governmental organizations to the entrepreneurship of women and employment was tried to be determined at the light of negotiations made with entrepreneurial women (trainees) who have acquired professional qualification or established their own business through these NGO's and NGO's executives that are operating in 5 pre-determined cities (Mersin, Adana, Adiyaman, Gaziantep and Şanliurfa) located in the Mediterranean and Southeastern Anatolia regions of Turkey. All of the findings were evaluated qualitatively in the survey. By examining the activities, institutionalisms, obstacles and present conditions of women-oriented NGOs, contributions to women's entrepreneurship and women's employment have been studied to determine. As a result; it has been determined that women-oriented activities support women's entrepreneurship and employment. It is also a finding that the structure of patriarchal thinking and lack of education are the biggest obstacles to women's working life, and that NGO's are not as productive at the desired level due to the lack of institutional structures and management perceptions.
