Women's non-governmental organizations social media use in the shaping: Twitter using of Kadın Cinayetlerini Durduracağiz Association

Civil society is defined as a social area that excludes the public and the state administrations. The women's movements, which are the focus of this work, are the latest in the civil society community. The reason for this is that with the industrial revolution, women were able to get out of the molds drawn to them by society for the first time. The women's movement has emerged with westernization movement in Turkey. At the intersection of East and West, Turkey, is seen to be remaining in between of the way. Violence against women, considered as problem in Turkey after a period of rising of the feminist movement in 1980s. Resisting violence against women; started with various campaigns, signature campaigns and performances. These actions are intended to indicate that the woman is in a secondary position and to show that an institutional campaign is needed for the solution of the problem. Regular protests of the women's movement, the taboo of violence against women has been destroyed and the concept of violence against women has become debatable in both the public and political context. Subsequently, considerable and important steps have been taken in this regard. The most important of these steps is the establishment of independent women's organizations that take on the challenge themselves. Platform of 'Kadın Cinayetlerini Durduracağız Platformu', which we will use in our work, is undertaking this mission today. However, although the number of the violence against women and femicide had been thought to be declined, if has increased unexpectedly. During 2017, femicide number reached to 409. This number indicates that number of murders is %25 more than previous year. In that period of violance against women and femicides with really high rates, the attitude of the women's NGOs has become very important. 'Kadın Cinayetleri Durduracağız' platform, which was used in this study, is the most prominent NGO dealing with violence against women, femicide and women's right. In this study, 'Kadın Cinayetlerini Durduracağız Platformu' Twitter shares were analyzed by content analysis method and it was revealed how this platform uses social media
