Abstract (EN)

In the most general sense, poverty refers to the situation of being unable to meet the basic needs such as food, clothing and accommodation which are required to maintain the minimum standard of living. Poverty women can be explained as follows: the number of poor women is higher than the number of poor men; the women experience poverty more severely than men do and the number of poor families whose household head woman increases gradually. It is known that the reasons such as gender inequality in society, status of women in household, low educational level and working based on low wages raise the risk of poverty women further. Numerous solutions are found all over the world to decrease the risk of poverty women or to overcome the poverty women. One of these solutions is microloan system. Microloan is the initial capital granted to the poorest segment of society (especially to women) with the aim of helping them get rid of poverty or setting up their own business. The purpose of this study is to determine the effectiveness of microloan in reduction of poverty among women in Bartın province. The microloan application in Bartın is performed by Bartın Special Provincial Administration. As a method of study, it was preferred to obtain data by using face-to-face questionnaire with women using micro-credits. The data obtained were transferred to SPSS program and the relationships between variables and variables were subjected to statistical tests and the results were explained below. In consequence of the study, it was seen that the women who were provided microloan in Bartın were generally satisfied with this application and that they used the income attained from the loan to develop their current works and facilitate the living of their households as well as meeting their basic needs. It was concluded based on the findings obtained that the microloan application is an effective practice in Bartın for fighting poverty.
