The activities of social assistance and solidarity foundations in preventing women poverty: The case of Adapazarı

Poverty is a problem that affects every part of the society and that social policy should be implemented effectively. Poverty manifests itself in society in different ways and affects individuals. Especially women are more affected by poverty than other groups. The benefits of gender roles, inequality in access to educational opportunities, participation in informal employment and the responsibilities required by parenting roles due to motherhood have resulted in the evaluation of poverty as a phenomenon specific to women. The fact that the concept of poverty affects women too much has created the concept of women's poverty and the necessity of making applications on this issue has arisen. Social Assistance and Solidarity Foundations, which is one of the institutions in charge of this issue, carries out studies to prevent women's poverty with various aids and practices. Various practices are carried out around the world in the fight against women's poverty, which is an ongoing problem not only in our country but also all over the world. This study aims to show the visibility of aids in terms of recipients by evaluating the aid economically and socially for women living in the borders of Sakarya province and receiving aid from the Social Assistance and Solidarity Foundations in the fight against the poverty problem. The study shows that the concept of women's poverty is not only an economic-based concept, and it is important to show that the concept is multidimensional and should be evaluated in separate dimensions and measures should be taken accordingly. The study started with a literature review and an effort was made to reach the results by conducting qualitative research.
