Kadrî's Menâzilü't-Tarîk ilâ Beyti'llâhi'l-Atîk (Review and edision critical text)

Hajj worship has been a source for the formation of pilgrimage literature and many literary genres have been written on this subject. One of the genres that deal with the worship of pilgrimage is the works with the content of menâzil-i hajj. In such works, information is given about the pilgrimage routes, the destinations of the pilgrimage caravans, the religious, historical and commercial places to be visited, the geographical and commercial characteristics of the destinations and the people of the city. Many poetic, prose and verse-prose menâzil-i hac have been written in Turkish literature. One of the works written in this nature is Menâzilü'tTarîk ila Beytillâhi'l-Atik. The name of the author of the work is Abdülkadir Çelebi, his pseudonym is Kadri, and the XVII. It is understood that he lived in the century. Three copies of the work have been identified: Süleymaniye Manuscript Library Hagia Sophia 01469, Millet Manuscript Library 34 Ae History 892 and Turkish Historical Society Library Y/0377. The study was based on the Süleymaniye Manuscript Library copy. In the work written in prose, verse fragments are interspersed from time to time. The verse parts in the work consist of 32 couplets in total. Pseudonyms are mentioned in only three of the poems in the verse. The work, which is organized in sections and chapters, includes 97 destinations on the pilgrimage route. The presence of water, air, geographical and commercial aspects of the ranges were discussed, religious and historical places and persons in the ranges were mentioned, and the distances between the ranges were expressed in hours. In the work, the stories about the names of the ranges were told, verses and hadiths were quoted, and the traditions and customs in the ranges were mentioned. In addition, while giving information about the ranges, stereotyped expressions and sentence structure were preferred. The work was written to give useful information to pilgrim candidates. For this reason, a simple and understandable style prevails in the work. In this study, after giving information about the works of pilgrimage and especially the literature about the field of menâzil-i pilgrimage, the study of the menâzil-i pilgrimage named Menâzilü't-Tarîk ila Beyti'llâhi'l-Atîk and its edition critique were made.
