Abstract (EN)

In this thesis study, forced convective heat transfer and pressure drop characteristics in a heat sink on which cubic lattice structures are replaced have been investigated experimentally. In the study conducted under steady state conditions, constant heat flux has been applied from the bottom wall of the test surface. The temperature dependent properties of air have been used. The effetcs of the distance between the elements in streamwise (Sy=2.33, 3.2 and 4.5 cm), the distance between the elements in spanwise (Sx=0.6, 1.25 and 2.33 cm), element height (H=2 and 4 cm) and the Reynolds number (4.000-20.000) are investigated. The results show that placement of the cubic structures into the channel increases heat transfer remarkably. Increase of the element height causes both heat transfer and pressure drop to increase. Furthermore, the fact that the number of the elements in the streamwise and the spanwise direction enhances heat transfer much more than that of the smooth one.
