Studies on the fauna and systematics of fruit flies (Diptera: Tephritidae) in Kahramanmaraş province, Turkey

Abstract (EN)

This study was performed on the Tephritidae samples collected from Kahramanmaraş province during the years of 2009 - 2010. From the collected 2.718 samples of Tephritidae family from Kahramanmaraş province during the study, 64 species belongs to 5 subfamily (Aciurinae, Myopitinae, Tephritinae, Terellinae and Trypetinae) and 22 genus (Aciura, Urophora, Acanthiophilus, Actinoptera, Campiglossa, Capitetes, Dioxyna, Euaresta, Goniurellia, Heringina, Oxyna, Sphenella, Tephritis, Tephritomyia, Trupanea, Xyphosia Chaetorellia, Chaetostomella, Orellia, Terellia, Chetostoma, Euleia) was determined. The regional identification keys were prepared for subfamilies, genera and species for the samples found from the study region. In addition to this, morphological diagnosis characters of the species has been explained, illustrations of the wing and aculeus has been given, as well as the host plants has been indicated, the distribution of the study region and the world have been stated. Because of the absence of a comprehensive study about fruit flies from Kahramanmaras, most of the species determined in this study is new record for the study region and Chetostoma curvinerve is new record for Turkey. This thesis is the first comprehensive study in the area so it will assist to determine the Turkey Tephrtidae fauna.
