Find the priority sport branch in kahramanmaraş investigate the reasons which are effect the choosing these branchs and evaluate to about improving group sport

The purpose of this study is to posit prior sport branches in Kahramanmaras and to research the causes affecting the selection of these branches, and to assess in the aspect of spread of public sport. This study has been implemented on 170 people who had duties related to sports in certain levels between 2006 and 2007 in Kahramanmaras such as physical education teachers, trainers, referees, sports club managers, local sport principality, sport press. In the study, the survey technique has been used to collect data for this research. The survey is a five-option likert type scale consisting of two parts. The first part is used to collect personal data. The second part is used to determine prior sport branch, the things that should be done for public?s tendency to sport, factors that make people take part in sport activities and factors that prevent people from taking part in sport activities despite their interest. The data collected through survey technique was organized with MS Excel for statistical process. The validity and reliblity tests have been implemented with SPSS statistics programme. As statistical tests cross table and ki-square tests have been implemented. The survey study has been completed by interviewing with people who are in sports and have duties related to sports in Kahramanmaras.In our study, we have tried to find answers to any problems related to sports as long as we could. The questions related to factors affecting the public to primarily prefer the sport branch have been thickly answered. Cultural factors come first. The success of the region and the country in sports, the sports policy of the country and region attract attention as important factors in selection of the sports branch. In the first positions of the things to be done to orient public to sports and the development of sport branches, people?s getting benefit from facilities effectively and with great attendance, the support of national-local press, the talented sportsmen being supported financially and spiritually take part. In the fixation of factors that affect people?s tendency to sports and taking part in sports interviewees have mostly stated that they have personal interests in sports. The other factors are as follows: Friends, the sports activities of the school and attitudes of sports teacher. Financial impossibilities come first in the factors that prevent people from taking part in sport activities despite their interest. The others are as follows: Lack of free time, absence of facility in the demanded branch and local institutions? not supporting sport adequately. In the last part of our study, solutions to the problems of sports in Kahramanmaras have been proposed.
